Draft notice: This policy reflects a direct audit of the cookies and local storage actually set by Meteoscience's products as of the effective date below. It is a starting point for compliance, not a substitute for review by a qualified Estonian/EU data-protection lawyer.

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026 · Applies to meteoscience.com and its products: the Grid Dashboard, the S2S Energy Weather Widget, and the Climate Risk Report Portal.

1. What this policy covers

"Cookies" are small text files a website can store in your browser. We also use a small amount of browser local storage, a similar mechanism, for a couple of preferences — both are covered here for completeness.

2. Do we ask for cookie consent?

No — and here's why. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, "strictly necessary" cookies (the kind needed to log you in and keep you logged in) don't require consent. We do not run any analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies on these products, so there is nothing here that would require a consent banner. If that ever changes, we will add one and update this policy first.

3. Cookies we set

NamePurposeTypeDuration
meteo_sessionKeeps you logged into the Climate Risk Report Portal, or into the Widget's shared demo login.Strictly necessary12 hours
meteo_widget_sessionKeeps a paying S2S Widget subscriber logged in after checkout, tied to their Stripe customer record.Strictly necessary30 days

Both cookies are first-party, HttpOnly (inaccessible to page scripts), and used solely for authentication — never for tracking or advertising.

4. Local storage we use

KeyPurposeContains personal data?
ms_widget_theme / ms_dlr_themeRemembers your light/dark display preference.No
ms_widget_regionRemembers your last-selected region in the S2S Widget.No
ms_widget_climo_v1_<region>Caches public climate-normal data for faster loading. No — public weather data only

None of this ever leaves your browser to reach us — it's stored locally so the product loads faster and remembers your preferences.

5. Third-party cookies

We don't set any third-party cookies ourselves. If you complete a Widget subscription purchase, you'll briefly be on Stripe's own hosted checkout page (checkout.stripe.com), which may set its own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy — that's outside our control once you're on their page.

6. How to control or clear these

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser's settings (usually under Privacy or Site Data). Note that clearing meteo_session or meteo_widget_session will simply log you out — you can always log back in. Blocking cookies entirely will prevent the login-gated parts of these products from working, since that's what they're for.

7. Changes to this policy

We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever this changes, and add a consent mechanism here first if we ever introduce cookies that require it.
