Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using any Meteoscience product — the Grid Dashboard, the S2S Energy Weather Widget, the Climate Risk Report Portal, or our mobile apps — you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use these products.

2. What we provide

• Grid Dashboard. An evaluation-tier dynamic line rating tool for transmission grid capacity analysis, provided as-is for demonstration and evaluation purposes.
• S2S Energy Weather Widget. An embeddable weather-forecast widget with a free tier (Baltic region, 14/35-day ensembles) and a paid licensed tier (multi-region, 90-day seasonal outlook), billed as a recurring subscription.
• Climate Risk Report Portal. A tool that generates physical climate risk reports for a submitted address or location, drawing on public reanalysis and climate-model data.
• LightningSentry. A mobile app that tracks real-time lightning strike activity from public satellite data (NOAA GOES GLM) and calculates your on-device distance from nearby strikes, with a free tier and a paid Pro tier (instant sound and background alerts), billed as a recurring subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• SlopeSentry. A mobile app that tracks ski resort weather and lift-pass value, with a free tier and a paid Pro tier (7-day forecast curves, crowdsourced trail condition reports, and custom powder alerts), billed as a recurring subscription through Google Play (and the Apple App Store, once available).
• WindSentry. A mobile app that provides wind, wave, and tide forecasts for sailing and kitesurfing — either a small set of preset spots or your current GPS location — plus configurable wind-speed and direction alerts. The free tier shows the first few hours of the forecast and one active alert; the paid Pro tier unlocks the full 24-hour detailed forecast and unlimited saved alerts, billed as a recurring subscription (with a 7-day free trial) through Google Play (and the Apple App Store, once available).
• VeloShield. A mobile app that analyzes headwind, crosswind, and tailwind conditions along a small set of preset cycling routes, with a free tier and a paid Pro tier (comparing later departure times to find a more favorable wind window), billed as a recurring subscription through Google Play (and the Apple App Store, once available).
• MeteoGolf. A mobile app that provides golf-course weather (a Playability Index, grass-roll advisories), a wind shot-resolver, and lightning safety alerts, with a free tier and a paid Pro tier (the Plays-Like Caddie Rangefinder, which adjusts shot distance for real air density and wind), billed as a recurring subscription through Google Play (and the Apple App Store, once available).
• MarineSentry. A mobile app that tracks sea-surface-temperature thermal fronts and bar-crossing passage safety for sportfishing charters and marine captains, with a free tier (current crossing-risk level and thermal-front data) and a paid Pro tier (the extended multi-hour bar-crossing forecast timeline), billed as a recurring subscription through Google Play (and the Apple App Store, once available).

3. Subscriptions and billing

The Widget's licensed tier is billed through Stripe on a recurring monthly or annual basis at the price shown at checkout, and automatically renews until cancelled. You can cancel or update your payment method at any time through the Customer Portal, accessible from "Manage subscription" inside the Widget. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or at Meteoscience's discretion.

LightningSentry Pro is billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, not Stripe, at the price and billing period (monthly or annual) shown at checkout in the app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the same price unless we notify you of a change in advance as required by the applicable store's policies. You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, at any time in your Apple ID account settings or the Google Play app's Subscriptions page — we do not have the ability to cancel it for you, since Apple and Google hold the billing relationship directly. Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited once a paid subscription period begins. Refunds for App Store or Play Store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies, not by Meteoscience directly.

SlopeSentry Pro is billed the same way and under the same terms as LightningSentry Pro described above (recurring monthly or annual subscription through Google Play or Apple App Store, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refund handling all identical) — see the preceding paragraph in full.

WindSentry Pro is billed the same way and under the same terms as LightningSentry Pro described above (recurring monthly or annual subscription through Google Play or Apple App Store, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refund handling all identical) — see that paragraph in full. WindSentry's monthly and annual plans each currently include a 7-day free trial; you can cancel any time during the trial to avoid being charged, and any unused portion of the trial is forfeited once billing begins.

VeloShield Pro is billed the same way and under the same terms as LightningSentry Pro described above (recurring monthly or annual subscription through Google Play or Apple App Store, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refund handling all identical) — see that paragraph in full.

MeteoGolf Pro is billed the same way and under the same terms as LightningSentry Pro described above (recurring monthly or annual subscription through Google Play or Apple App Store, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refund handling all identical) — see that paragraph in full.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: resell, sublicense, or redistribute data obtained from these products outside the intended embedding and usage described in our documentation; attempt to circumvent access controls, rate limits, or licensing checks; scrape, reverse-engineer, or systematically extract data beyond normal use; or use an embed token or account other than your own.

5. Disclaimers

Our products describe forecast and historical weather conditions and physical climate exposure. They are not, and should not be used as:

• Investment advice, a trading recommendation, or a forecast of market prices.
• Engineering, insurance, or legal advice, or the sole basis for infrastructure siting, underwriting, or financial decisions.

Specific product disclaimers reinforce this: the S2S Widget states "Meteorological data only — this widget describes forecast weather conditions. It is not investment advice, a trading recommendation, or a forecast of market prices." The Report Portal states "This report is for informational purposes only. It does not constitute engineering, investment, insurance, or legal advice, and should not be used as the sole basis for infrastructure siting, underwriting, or financial decisions." Both apply in full here.

LightningSentry is not a substitute for official severe weather guidance or your own judgment during a storm. It reports lightning activity sourced from public satellite data (NOAA's GOES Geostationary Lightning Mapper), which can have gaps, delays, or coverage limits, and is not a certified life-safety or emergency-warning system. Follow official guidance from your local weather authority — as a general rule, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck and should move to a safe, fully-enclosed shelter immediately, regardless of what the app shows. Do not rely on LightningSentry as your sole means of deciding when it's safe to be outdoors.

SlopeSentry is not a substitute for a resort's own official conditions report. Lift status, trail conditions, and the Pass Utility Index are based on public weather data and, for trail conditions, reports submitted by other users — they can be incomplete, delayed, or wrong, and are not a certified source of resort operating status. Always confirm lift and trail status with the resort directly before making safety-relevant decisions.

User-submitted content. SlopeSentry lets you submit trail condition reports and resort suggestions that are visible to other users. You're responsible for what you submit, and agree not to post anything false, abusive, or unrelated to ski conditions. We may remove any submission at our discretion and don't verify submissions before they're shown to other users, so treat crowdsourced trail conditions as informal, unverified reports from other skiers, not official resort data.

WindSentry is not a substitute for your own judgment or official marine and weather safety guidance on the water. Wind, wave, tide, and safety-alert data (including gale, offshore-wind, and swell warnings) are derived from public forecast models, which can be wrong, delayed, or have gaps in coverage — particularly for inland or less-monitored spots, where wave and tide data may not be available at all. Wind alert notifications are checked when you open or refresh the app, not continuously in the background while it's closed, so a real-time check just before heading out is still your responsibility. Always apply your own judgment and consult official local marine/weather authorities before deciding whether conditions are safe for sailing, kitesurfing, or any other on-water activity.

VeloShield is not a substitute for your own judgment or official road/weather safety guidance while cycling. Headwind, crosswind, tailwind, and safety-alert data are derived from public forecast models, which can be wrong or delayed, and route weather is only recalculated when you request it, not continuously while you ride. Always apply your own judgment about road and weather conditions rather than relying solely on the app.

MeteoGolf is not a substitute for official severe weather guidance or your own judgment on the course. Lightning alerts are based on public satellite strike data, which can have gaps, delays, or coverage limits, and are not a certified life-safety or emergency-warning system — as a general rule, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck and should seek shelter immediately regardless of what the app shows. The Playability Index, grass-roll advisories, wind shot-resolver, and Plays-Like Rangefinder are informational estimates derived from public forecast models and approximate physics, not certified course-condition reports — always confirm conditions with the course directly and use your own judgment.

MarineSentry's Bar-Crossing Safety feature is not a certified life-safety system and is not a substitute for your own judgment or official marine safety guidance. The crossing-risk score is derived from real tidal-current and wave-steepness modeling using public forecast data, which can be wrong, delayed, or have gaps in coverage, and does not account for every local hazard (vessel-specific handling, sandbar shifts, local currents, or conditions that change faster than the forecast). Sea-surface-temperature and thermal-front data are informational estimates for locating fishing conditions, not a certified navigational or fishing-conditions report. Always apply your own judgment, consult official local marine authorities (such as the U.S. Coast Guard or harbor master), and use current on-the-water observations before deciding whether a bar crossing or any on-water activity is safe.

6. Intellectual property

Meteoscience owns all rights in its products, branding, the Huuhkaja forecasting engine, and underlying software. You retain ownership of the reports and outputs generated for your own use, subject to the underlying public-data licensing terms of the sources we draw on (e.g. Open-Meteo, ERA5).

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meteoscience is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of these products. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms. You may stop using our free products, or cancel a paid subscription, at any time.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, and any dispute not resolved informally will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Estonia.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our products or obligations change; we'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
